Terms of Service

By creating an account and using AEVUM, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use our Service.

These Terms include and incorporate AEVUM’s Acceptable Use Policy and Copyright & Takedown Policy. By creating an account or using AEVUM, you agree to comply with these Terms, including those incorporated policies.

AEVUM is a publishing platform for finished works, designed to support long-form knowledge sharing after publication. Paid plans provide stable, shareable links for books, essays, research papers, portfolios, and creative projects. Published works are intended to be complete and stable rather than continuously revised.

AEVUM is not designed primarily for iterative or ongoing publishing workflows; instead, it facilitates reading, reference, durable sharing, and embedded viewing experiences for published works.

AEVUM may also provide optional AI-assisted functionality, including Aevum Assistant (“AA”).

AA may provide functions such as:

• document review;
• writing refinement;
• questions and answers about uploaded works;
• content analysis; and
• where supported, analysis of images, visual elements, page layouts, typography, graphics, illustrations, diagrams, visual composition, document structure, metadata, or other elements of a work.

The functionality and capabilities of AA may change over time.

AI-assisted features may be offered in beta, preview, experimental, limited, or generally available form and may be subject to usage limits, rate limits, availability restrictions, technical requirements, or other conditions.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and all activities under your account.

You must provide accurate information when creating your account and keep this information up to date.

AEVUM is intended for adults aged 18 and over only. By creating an account or using AEVUM, you represent that you are at least 18 years old.

AEVUM may suspend or terminate accounts that do not meet this requirement.

4.1 Ownership

You retain all rights, title, and interest in and to the content you upload (“Your Content”).

4.2 License to AEVUM

By uploading, storing, or publishing Your Content, you grant AEVUM a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, transmit, display, distribute, convert, render, generate previews or derivatives from, and otherwise process Your Content solely as reasonably necessary to provide, operate, secure, improve, and support the Service.

This license includes the right for AEVUM to use trusted service providers acting on its behalf for hosting, storage, security, document rendering, preview generation, embedded viewing, analytics, AI-assisted processing, and related operational functions, solely to the extent reasonably necessary to provide the Service.

Where you choose to use Aevum Assistant or another AI-assisted feature, this licence also permits AEVUM and service providers acting on its behalf to process relevant portions or representations of Your Content as reasonably necessary to provide the requested functionality.

Depending on the capabilities available at the time, this may include processing text, images, graphics, layouts, visual elements, typography, diagrams, metadata, document structure, or other elements or derived representations of Your Content.

This licence does not transfer ownership of Your Content to AEVUM.

4.3 Responsibility & Views

Published content represents only the views of the individual account owner or publisher.

AEVUM does not endorse, verify, or assume responsibility for user content or for outcomes arising from its use.

4.4 Copyright & Intellectual Property Warranties

By uploading, publishing, submitting, or processing content you represent and warrant that:

• you are the owner or have all rights, permissions, and licenses necessary to upload, publish, process, render, display, distribute, and use the work through AEVUM and its service providers;
• the work does not infringe any third-party intellectual property rights;
• to your knowledge the content complies with applicable laws; and
• where the work includes personal information, confidential material, or content relating to other people, you have the necessary authority and lawful basis to submit that material for the uses contemplated by the Service, including optional AI-assisted processing where you choose to use those features.

You also agree to indemnify and hold harmless AEVUM against any copyright, intellectual property, privacy, confidentiality, or related claims arising from Your Content, subject to applicable law.

Each plan includes a storage allowance for intentional publishing.

Plan limits, usage allowances, file-size limits, page limits, storage limits, AI-assisted usage allowances, rate limits, and fair-use thresholds may be adjusted by AEVUM from time to time.

Plan Allowances

• Free: up to 3 active hosted flipbooks, 1 draft, 1 archived work, 15 pages per file, 50 MB per file, and 150 MB storage
• Starter: up to 6 active hosted flipbooks, 6 drafts, 6 archived works, 50 pages per file, 100 MB per file, and 1 GB storage
• Standard: up to 20 active hosted flipbooks, 20 drafts, 20 archived works, 150 pages per file, 250 MB per file, and 2.5 GB storage
• Premium: up to 50 active hosted flipbooks, 50 drafts, 50 archived works, 1000 pages per file, 500 MB per file, and 5 GB storage

Free users may keep works private for trialling and self-viewing only. Sharing by unlisted or public link requires a paid plan.

Public and unlisted visibility are paid features. Permanent public or unlisted sharing is not included in the free tier, and AEVUM is not intended to be used as a free public file-hosting service.

Paid plan allowances may vary by plan and are shown on the membership page.

Storage Allowances

• Free: 150 MB
• Starter: 1 GB
• Standard: 2.5 GB
• Premium: 5 GB

You will receive in-app warnings as you approach your storage allowance, for example around 85% and 95% usage.

Existing files remain available when usage goes above your storage allowance, but new uploads may be limited or blocked.

Uploads are blocked once storage reaches 120% of the plan allowance, or where a new upload would push usage above that threshold.

In special circumstances, if you require additional storage beyond the allowances listed above, you may contact us to discuss available options.

5.1 Aevum Assistant Usage

Aevum Assistant and other AI-assisted features may have separate:

• usage allowances;
• request limits;
• hourly or other rate limits;
• fair-use restrictions;
• technical limits;
• beta allowances; or
• feature-specific eligibility requirements.

These limits may differ from storage, publishing, or subscription allowances.

AEVUM may modify AI-related limits from time to time where reasonably necessary to manage service quality, cost, availability, safety, security, abuse prevention, infrastructure constraints, provider restrictions, or product development.

Usage limits shown in the Service at the time of use form part of the operational conditions applying to the feature.

You must not attempt to bypass or circumvent these limits.

Paid plans are billed monthly or yearly depending on the billing interval selected at checkout, where available. You may cancel anytime in account settings.

Upgrades apply immediately after confirmation.

Downgrades and cancellations apply from your next billing cycle.

Existing files remain available after plan changes, though new uploads, publishing, restoring, archiving, or use of particular features may be limited if usage exceeds the allowances of your current plan.

No refunds are provided for partial months of service except where required by applicable law.

Promotional offers, trials, beta access, introductory pricing, coupons, and similar benefits may be subject to separate eligibility, duration, plan, or usage conditions and may be changed or withdrawn according to their stated terms.

You agree you will not use the Service to:

• upload, publish, or distribute material that is illegal, harmful, defamatory, or discriminatory;
• upload, publish, or distribute material that infringes or violates copyrights, trademarks, privacy rights, confidentiality obligations, or other rights;
• upload malware, viruses, or malicious code;
• harass, abuse, stalk, threaten, or advocate discrimination against individuals or groups on any protected basis;
• impersonate others or misrepresent your identity;
• attempt to gain unauthorised access to the AEVUM platform, infrastructure, systems, or other users’ accounts;
• attempt to bypass, manipulate, disable, circumvent, or evade usage limits, rate limits, access restrictions, security controls, safety measures, or safeguards applying to AEVUM or Aevum Assistant;
• use automated means to abuse, overload, scrape, exploit, or materially degrade AEVUM or its AI-assisted services;
• engage in activities that degrade the experience, security, availability, or integrity of the Service; or
• use AEVUM to upload, distribute, or process highly sensitive regulated records, identity documents, medical records, payroll data, or other confidential material where you do not have a clear right and lawful basis to submit that material for service-provider processing.

AEVUM reserves the right to remove or disable access to content, features, or accounts that violate these Terms or applicable law.

AEVUM maintains an acceptable use policy to support responsible use of the platform.

Violation of this policy may result in suspension, restriction, removal of access to individual features, or termination of your account at our discretion, subject to applicable law.

AEVUM may, but is not obligated to, remove or refuse to publish any content that we determine is objectionable or violates these Terms.

AEVUM may modify, pause, suspend, restrict, replace, transfer, or discontinue the Service or any part of it where reasonably necessary.

This includes beta, experimental, AI-assisted, third-party-dependent, or preview functionality.

AI-assisted features may change as models, providers, technical capabilities, safety requirements, service costs, laws, or product requirements change.

Where reasonably possible, we will provide notice of significant changes.

Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Service and applicable Terms.

AEVUM may suspend or terminate your account for violations of these Terms or conduct harmful to the Service or other users.

AEVUM may restrict, suspend, or terminate access to some or all of the Service where we reasonably determine it is necessary due to:

• non-payment;
• failed billing;
• security risk;
• legal compliance;
• abuse prevention;
• excessive operational burden;
• AI or infrastructure provider constraints;
• violation of usage or rate limits;
• violation of these Terms; or
• conduct harmful to AEVUM, the Service, other users, or third parties.

Where reasonably possible, notice will be provided before suspension or termination.

Upon account deletion, your data will be removed subject to applicable legal, security, technical, fraud-prevention, and backup retention requirements.

Deleted content may not be recoverable.

AEVUM is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind except where such warranties cannot lawfully be excluded.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, AEVUM disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, availability, and non-infringement.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or secure service.

AEVUM does not guarantee the continued availability, formatting, rendering behaviour, or external service availability of any embedded reader, preview, AI-assisted feature, or service-provider-delivered experience.

11.1 Aevum Assistant and AI-Generated Output

Aevum Assistant is provided as an assistance tool only.

AI systems can make mistakes.

AA and other AI-assisted features may generate output that is:

• inaccurate;
• incomplete;
• misleading;
• outdated;
• inconsistent;
• incorrectly interpreted;
• unsuitable for a particular purpose; or
• otherwise erroneous.

AEVUM does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, reliability, originality, legality, suitability, quality, or fitness for purpose of any AI-generated response.

You are responsible for independently reviewing, checking, and verifying important information before relying on, publishing, submitting, presenting, distributing, or acting on AI-generated output.

AA does not replace your own judgment or appropriate independent review.

AI-generated output does not constitute legal, financial, investment, medical, academic, engineering, architectural, regulatory, professional, or other specialised advice.

Where professional or regulated advice is required, you should obtain advice from an appropriately qualified person.

You remain solely responsible for deciding whether and how to use any AI-generated suggestion or response and for the content you ultimately publish or communicate.

11.2 No Guarantee of AI Availability or Capability

AEVUM does not guarantee that AA:

• will always be available;
• will support every type of document or content;
• will correctly interpret every document, image, layout, visual element, or instruction;
• will retain the same functionality over time; or
• will produce the same response when a request is repeated.

AI-assisted capabilities may be modified, restricted, replaced, suspended, or withdrawn at any time where reasonably necessary.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, AEVUM, its affiliates, officers, employees, contractors, agents, and service providers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive loss or damage arising from or related to your use of the Service.

Without limiting the above, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, AEVUM is not responsible for direct or indirect loss, damage, cost, liability, claim, business interruption, lost opportunity, lost profit, loss of data, reputational harm, professional consequence, publication consequence, academic consequence, or other adverse outcome arising from:

• use of or reliance on Aevum Assistant or other AI-generated output;
• inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, or inappropriate AI-generated information;
• a failure by you to independently verify important information;
• modification or use of your content based on an AI-generated suggestion;
• reliance on AI output for professional, commercial, legal, financial, medical, academic, technical, regulatory, or other decisions;
• temporary or permanent unavailability of an AI-assisted feature; or
• actions or omissions of third-party AI, hosting, processing, or infrastructure providers.

Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, AEVUM’s liability is limited only to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, remedy, or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted, or modified under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law.

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless AEVUM and its officers, directors, employees, contractors, and agents from claims, liabilities, losses, damages, costs, and expenses arising from:

• your use of the Service;
• Your Content;
• your use of AI-generated output;
• your decision to publish, distribute, submit, or rely upon material created or modified using Aevum Assistant;
• violation of these Terms; or
• claims by third parties arising from content or material you submit through the Service.

This provision does not apply to the extent prohibited by applicable law.

AEVUM may assign, transfer, or delegate its rights and obligations under these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganisation, sale of assets, financing, business transfer, change of control, or transfer of the Service to another operator.

You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without AEVUM’s prior written consent.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia.

You agree that any dispute arising from these Terms will be subject to the jurisdiction of Australian courts, subject to any rights or jurisdictional requirements that cannot lawfully be excluded.

We may update these Terms from time to time, including to reflect changes in law, service functionality, AI capabilities, providers, pricing, safety requirements, or business practices.

Where appropriate, material changes will be communicated through the Service, our website, or directly to users.

Continued use of AEVUM after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms where permitted by applicable law.
